Art 235: Graphic Design | 7 Creative Stratagies Project.
First sketches of my ideas. Very rough at first.
Description: This project was for Art 235: Graphic Design at BYU-Idaho Online. The purpose of this project was to familiarize ourselves with the seven creative stratigies that we would most likely use while designing for clients. Those were: Combination, Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphore/Simile, Change of Context or Environment, Physical Shape Similarity, and finally, Material Change, Swap, or Focus. The ultimate goal being that we producec 7 individual images desplaying those stratagies using an every day object. The object I chose was a baseball. During the three weeks, we learned about how to plan and then eventually produce the image.
Planning: During the planning stage, we put together many different things, like mind maps and sketches that would help us to put all our thoughts together. I decided during this plan stage to come up with all the different words that I knew about baseball. Most of them were types of baseball pitches. Most of those were able to be used in multiple of catagories. After that it was just figuring out the best ones. Then we went ahead and did rough hand sketches of what we wanted to see. (see image above) After the sketching we had to refine the sketches. I chose to use my digital skills and sketch there. (See image below)

Design: After all the sketching was complete. We were able to take what we compiled along with reference images and make seven compositions. Ultimatly, I found that what I wanted to put together didn't always come out the way I liked it. I even made changes to where different image ideas went in the seven stratagies. Here are the final seven stratagy posters that I made.
