The Art of Ukrainian Sixties

The Art of Ukrainian Sixties is an unique edition about the unofficial art-scene of 1960s Ukraine. It combines insightful texts as well as numerous artworks. Double soft cover was designed with matte lamination effect.
Edited by acclaimed art historian and scholar Olha Balashova and art critic and independent curator Lizaveta Herman, the book includes works of 15 nonconformist artists of one of the most daring underground cultural movements in the USSR.
The edition was made in A4 format from reversible matte сhalk-overlay paper. That kind of paper is ideal for full color books, magazines and posters. It gives a high-quality image depiction, but at the same time leaves some natural feeling.
The art of the 60s was incredibly diverse. The book describes underground works of Viktor Maryniuk, Viktor Zaretsky, and Roman Selsky but also discusses official genres: graphics, monumental art, and sculpture tended towards experimentation during the Thaw period.
An english-language edition of The Art of Ukrainian Sixties was supported by Stedley Art Foundation.
