Elements of and Principles Photography

The element represented on this photo is color. The cool, bright color of the sky contrasts with the warm, brown tones of the girl.
This photo is an example movement and rhythm. The movement is implied in the way the plant is captured as it was blowing in the wind.
This photo is an example of texture. You can see the soft, fine texture of the fur and the smooth texture of her ear.
This photo is an example of line. The line of the railing leads your eyes along with both the thin and thick lines of the different brick types.
This photo is an example of emphasis. The dark lines emphasize the brightness of the sky.
This photo is an example of variety. The birds are all the same but in different motions of flight causing a variety between them all.
This photo is an example of space. The subject is in the left portion of the frame instead of in the middle.
This photo is an example of pattern. The shadows are repeating along with the wood bars.
This is photo is an example of value. The different grey tones blend together to incorporate the background into the foreground.
This is photo is an example of shape and form. The sharp, dark, circles of the subject brings out its shape and the bright blue and orange of the sky.
This photo is an example of proportion. The camera angle shows that the piece of art is much larger and taller than it seems.
This photo is an example of unity. While the subject is in the corner of frame, the background unifies the picture as a whole.
This is another example of texture. The smooth texture of the shell contrasts with the bumpy, slimy, texture of the snails body.
This is another example of variety. There are a couple of different brands in the photo showing variety between the basketballs.
This is photo is another example of texture. The focus of the picture is on the cats nose which shows its slightly bumpy texture.
Written Critique:
1. By understanding the elements and principles of photography you can find the best shot possible. You can look at what you are photographing and know what is ideal and what is not.
2. From  this assignment I learned what makes up a good photo and how to properly find those things in what I'm shooting.
3.  I think that this assignment is perfect as it is. The slideshow allows us as students to learn at our own pace and take what we need from the information.
