Case study: Designing a herd management solution based application experience. 

The Problem Statement
Herd management solution application has many use cases that need to understand step by step. As a UX Designer, build an experience for the users to onboard  cattle and monitor its health/nutrition/productivity. 

Understanding the problem statement is an essential step before working on the solution in order to direct your focus and efforts into the right direction. Working on the problem statement right away might lead your efforts into an alternate solution that won’t exactly solve the problem.

As a UX Designer, I was tasked with building an experience for users to onboard a cattle under a dairy farm. A few things that I took into consideration while working on the case study:

Covering the whole journey from “discovery & onboard/health/nutrition/productivity”.

I have looked at the onboarding farmer use case.

Each stages have multiple other use cases.
Paying attention to “first time user experience”.
Placing the feature in a way such that it finds a logical place within the Information Architecture of the app.

From Engineering team I had a clear understanding of how it is going to work in real time.

Primary Research
I kicked off the project by doing some Primary Research.

I have prepared a set of questions to the users. I let the users speak openly and did not want to distract them between the interviews. The question were as follows:

Basic info of the field technician - Name, age and qualification?
What they do on daily basis?
How they are assigned the tasks?

How far is their assigned farm?
In farm what they do first?

Do they get enough support from cattle/farm owner?
How they do their activities one by one?
How much time take to complete in onboard a cattle?

How they understand the technical terms?
What all are the pain points they face during their work?

Few of the users were worried about entering the cattle information.

Few users were having doubt related to the cattle date of birth, calf details.

Few having doubt with history of pregnancy.

If they don't have proper internet connection how they will be able to complete the task.

They were worried about how they will solve the problem if they get stuck while doing a task.

Based on gather the insights received from the users I have done I ideation.

After doing the research, now was the time to analyze all the insights and come up with ideas to solve the problem. I did a brainwriting session and tried to share those ideas with the engineering team as possible solution to all the problems that the users were facing.

Userflows give rise to wireframes, once your flows are solid and you’ve established the number of pages needed as well as what purpose they serve, you can get to designing individual pages to create your wireframes. 

I designed the interface screens on the basis of the wireframes that I made earlier.
