Dim sum is a variety of small traditional Chinese dishes steamed in bamboo baskets. Yum cha, which translates to drink tea, is a Chinese brunch tradition that involves hot tea and dim sum shared with family and friends.
Cantonese dim sum culture is a staple of my Asian-American identity. When I was a little, my family would invite all the cousins and close friends for yum cha. While the adults socialized, I remember playing DS and hide-and-seek with the other kids and even napping on the chair with my head on my mother's lap. I created this dim sum collection that evoked a sense of nostalgia to me and many other dim sum lovers.
