"ATLANTE & SKETCHBOOK: POSACENERE" is a university project carried out during my first year at the Politecnico di Milano. The task of the course was to fully understand the visual aspect of an object and its importance in the designer culture.
"ATLANTE & SKETCHBOOK: POSACENERE" è un progetto universitario del mio primo anno al Politecnico di Milano.
Il compito del corso era quello di comprendere a pieno l'aspetto visivo di un oggetto e la sua importanza nella cultura del progettista.
Il corso era diviso in due diverse attività con un unico tema.
ATLANTE
The first activity was editorial in nature and was conducted out in groups. The task was to draw up an atlas on the communicative and semiotic aspects that lie beneath an extraordinarily everyday object, in our case the ashtray.
The final work represented an itinerary on the multiple facets of such a simple object as the ashtray, proposing themes in the fields of design, materials, photography and cinema.
La prima attività era di stampo editoriale e svolta in gruppo, il compito era quello di redigere un atlante sugli aspetti comunicativi e semiotici che si celano sotto un oggetto di straordinaria quotidianità, nel nostro caso: il posacenere.
L'elaborato finale rappresenta un itinerario sulle molteplici sfaccettature di un oggetto semplice come quello del posacenere proponendo temi nel campo del design, dei materiali, della fotografia e del cinema.
SKETCHBOOK
The second activity of the course, carried out individually and in parallel to the first, involves studying the various formal and other aspects of the ashtray through the designer's first tool: sketching.
Within the sketchbook there are sketches and notes on different ashtrays, characterised by different materials and shapes or related to the layout and realisation of the atlas.
La seconda attività del corso, svolta individualmente e in modo parallelo alla prima, consiste nello studio dei vari aspetti formali e non solo del posacenere attraverso il primo strumento del progettista: lo sketching.
All'interno dello sketchbook sono presenti sketch e appunti su posaceneri differenti, caratterizzate da materiali e forme diverse oppure relativi all'impaginazione e alla realizzazione dell'atlante.
