The trail is accessible through the Garvey Springs Trail and the Appalachian, Kaiser, and Coppermine Trails Loop.
Gaining roughly 900 feet in elevation over the course of five miles, the out-and-back Raccoon Ridge trail takes hikers to the top of Mount Mohican. This ridge of exposed rock provides scenic views of the Kittatinny Mountains and the Delaware Valley.
Raccoon Ridge is also a great place to observe the fall migration of hawks and other raptors.
The unique mountain topography of the location funnels wind to concentrate on birds in flight along the side of Racoon Ridge.
