This leather book is designed for my University module AX-1201: Introduction to Design Studies in my second semester in 2019. I was required to design and make a sketchbook with a brand name, target market and desirable features one from that market might want. 

My group went with a leather bound book with elastic bands to keep the book shoot and to hold the pen. We named this book 'Tjanting' after a Javanese Tool used to draw/design patterns on Batik fabric, a traditional fabric of Indonesia that we use as the inner book interior. 

Tourists are the main target market for Tjanting due to its unique interior. The book is handcrafted and hand-binded, hence, no fabric of the Batik are the same. The sketchbook can be used a planner if they prefer and they are free to draw using any medium whether it be watercolor or ink due to its paper thickness being quite thick (200gsm).
