Public Service Announcement: Plant A Tree, Live, Breathe and Feel Carefree!

As a child I LOVED playing in the trees, I have a lot of fond memories of my Grandparents mini forests and the absolute joy that would fill my soul. This project challenged me to create a public service announcement on a topic of my choice. It's amazing how often ideas or inspiration comes from your own surroundings!  I looked around to see four Willows, one traditional Crabapple, one Japanese Crabapple, one Honeycrisp Apple and one Italian Plumb tree, the idea was obvious, plant more trees!  During the planning process I initially started out with researching the benefits of trees and kept running into the benefits they have on our health! I thought I'd focus on lungs but as time went on and the process became more developed other organs needed to be represented! Here are the results! I had a hard time deciding on the background color scheme so you got my three favorites, the white for a crisp and clean look, the blue as a representation of a clean blue sky and a yellow representing joy.

I love the idea of using organs as 'trees' in a material change/swap kind of creative strategy, I love the colors utilized, and I love the simplicity of each set of posters. 

The biggest difficulty I faced during this project is how to represent each organ and have it noticeable, but somehow make it feel tree like. I have spent countless hours studying the look of the brain, lungs and heart and working to translate that research into an illustration. I hope you enjoy the results!
