Volvo Truck Commercial - With Music (2020)
Is an academical work from my 3rd and last academical year at the Bachelor in Production and Music Technologies from ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo) in Porto, Portugal.
The objective of the work was to create music and sound design to a Volvo Truck Commercial, that only had ambience noise and the main voice of the advertisement. In order to separate the ambience from the vocal I had to use the iZotope RX7 audio repair software.
In this work i wanted to explore some kind of mechanical orchestration sound, so i started with the drums section, and then explored some harmonies with the horns section. After settling for an idea, I started throwing some other ideas such as the pizzicato for the strings and some ambience pads which I really think helped the commercial achieve a step further of interest. At the end I threw in some sound design details to create a stronger bond between the sound and the visual aspect of the commercial.
I was really happy with the outcome because I managed to accomplish all of the goals I had settled to this work.
This project was started in the RX 7 software from iZotope to repair the original audio from the commercial, but was then completely made inside Logic Pro X: produced, mixed and mastered.
