Sticky Goes To College

Sticky Goes To College
The objective was to create a set of three stickers that captured the college experience. I wanted these stickers to be simplistic and to be something that college students, both past and present could relate to. Here are some of my sketches.
The sketches show the ideas I was brainstorming with as well as trying to decide what kind of style I wanted to use. After my sketches I started with very basic drawings in Illustrator.
These rough draft designs helped me figure out placement and the concept ideas I wanted to keep. I wanted my stickers to be even more minimalistic that they were in this draft. After more sketches I designed the graphics below.
The silhouettes still needed some work as well as adding a color scheme. But I was satisficed with the basic outline. At this stage some feedback I received was about adjusting the position of the arms to feel more natural.
I changed the arms to be more consistent between the three stickers and changed the angle of the arms holding to book to be more realistic. Some additional feedback I received was that the rain felt too busy for my walking to school sticker. And so I cut out a lot of the rain drops and had it not cover the entire design.
This is my final graphic draft. After lots of sketching and several drafts this is the minimalistic design I was satisfied with. The experiences of walking to class in less than ideal weather and feeling like you are always studying are experiences that all college students can relate to and that fulfills my hope for this project.
Here are the final designs as stickers with die cut lines.
