Using Procreate I was able to create initial sketches that I later on printed and applied to blocks of wood and linoleum. From there using knifes and gauges I carved out the white space by hand leaving only the black segments on the wood. From there I used oil based printing ink, a bayer, and some handmade wooden rigs I was able to create prints on paper. Originally my research started with Japanese UKIYO-E art. I have always had a passion and appreciation for Japanese culture and artwork which inspired me to experiment, attempt and test my own process of woodblock carving.
