Precious Minerals, Precarious Lives

IIn a course, we were asked to research an item and material and trace it back to it's origins; this included the manufacturing and the transporting of these materials or goods. I began researching a middle Eastern ,gold jewelry manufacturer and seller, brand called Damas. The research moved on from the brand itself to much more troubling topics of gold procurement: Child labor and environmental despair, The True Cost of African Gold.

Disclaimer: This project is merely an example of the injustice required for the procurement of precious minerals. Illegal mining is not exclusive to Middle East, the UAE or even Africa and as of now most precious minerals come at great environmental and humanitarian cost. Ethical or Clean Gold was at some point "dirty". As of now there is no environmental and humanitarian way ethical method for gold extraction.
