The first part that I created was the two rotors. Mainly starting with a rectangular shape with a length of 220mm and a width of 10mm. With the belt sander, I sanded down the side to a curve and gave it an angle to represent how rotor blades are really shaped to catch the wind and give balance.
The body was made by taking my original 2D drawing, cutting the piece out, pasting it to the chosen wood, and cutting it out with the band saw. I also started with my complex joinery for the landing gear/skid.
As same as the main body part, the two sides were also made by the 2D drawing. The big circle is a radius of 15mm and a small circle of 9mm. I first added the sides to the main body before drilling the holes.
With the landing gear, I slid the piece into the main body cuts I made in the beginning. Taking a hammer to make sure it fits tight for the last part.
The two pedestals are made out of wooden dowels of 100 mm in length. I used wood glue to stick to the landing gear.
The fasteners are made out of wooden dowels from a 7 - 10 mm diameter. Also made 2 wooden washers from the dowel for the rotors to be able to spin. I applied wood glue to the "screws" for them to stick into the main body and transmission part (also wooden joinery). Added the washer, then rotors, and then topping it off with a wooden cap nut. I also added glue for it to set. The tail rotor has a 3mm diameter dowel.
