Harvest for Hunger Celebrates 30 Years

An executive from Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Kislyansky has grown North Coast Auto Mall from a small operation that began in 2001 to one with dealerships across Ohio. In addition to overseeing this venture, Michael Kislyansky volunteers with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

This year, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s Harvest for Hunger celebrates its 30th year while raising funds for residents facing food insecurity. The Harvest for Hunger fundraiser’s purpose is to raise money to assist other hunger-relief organizations in 21 counties across northeast and north-central Ohio with its mission of providing nutritious food to residents.

The campaign takes a multi-pronged approach to collecting donations. The employee donation program allows companies to donate as a group. For example, the City of Cleveland has been a part of the fundraising campaign since the Harvest's inception 30 years ago.

Another way the initiative has collected donations is through the Check Out Hunger program, which allows customers to directly donate funds at the checkout line at the grocery store. Finally, the program allows for donations to be dropped off at the food bank itself.
