Speaking Volumes- End of Semester Show

The University of Leeds holds an End of Semester Show every academic year to showcase the biggest and best work of design undergraduates. Their brief was kept short and sweet with 'Start at the end with a big idea’, which got the ball rolling for naming, identity and signage.

As a strong believer of design that should speak for itself, this paved the way for the ‘big idea’ and led to branding the show ‘Speaking Volumes’.

To ‘speak volumes’ can be defined as enlightening someone about the real nature of something, although it may be only minimal detail, yet it manages to indicate a great deal. It works for all of the school’s disciplines - the fashion types, artists, and designers. The work produced shouldn't need prompting and it reveals a lot about the creator. It can speak volumes in a way that words sometimes can't. In fact, design should speaker louder than words. It should walk the talk.

The result is an identity that is confident, bold and definitely has volume that has been turned up a notch or two to get people talking.
