This piece was created for The Reckoning, an event hosted by the Program of Dance and Movement at the University of Rochester in collaboration with other Rochester community organizations. Interviews were conducted among my peers to evaluate the corporate-capitalist structure of the United States. Trapeze is comprised of two elements: poetry and sound. When originally displayed, the piece was surrounded by an abundance of red fabric and a single piece of white fabric: to represent the small but overwhelming elite, and the sacrifice they induce on everyone below to get themselves to the top.

This piece received an Honorable Mention in the Undergraduate Writing Colloquium at the University of Rochester in Spring 2022.
Trapeze

Where do we stand
if not with each other?

How far will we fall
if our eyes look to high?

Who will lend out a hand
if you trip over your own ambition?

Not anyone at the top,
But you turn away from everyone below
Everyone who's so willing to help you.

Not because of materialistic means
But because of human decency.
