Don't Miss the Call
A telco operator's commitment to do better
We all have one tucked away somewhere in a drawer: an old smartphone. Long forgotten about but "If my phone breaks down, I'll have a spare." or whatever our reasoning behind it might be. This results in only 5% of old phones being recycled, while the simple act of turning in your old phone might have a pretty large impact!

Phones use precious metals like gold that need to be mined, which isn't always the cleanest undertaking. To get only 5 grams of gold, you need a ton of ore. Compared to a ton of old mobile phones that results in 250 grams of gold... That's 50 times more by Urban Mining! That's why Proximus is calling on people to "Don't Miss the call" it's important that we find more sustainable solutions to our technology if we want to keep enjoying the life standards we have now.
Turning your old phone in at a proximus shop results in a voucher depending on the device. Some phones will be refurbished, while others are recycled. And the voucher? You can choose to use it to buy a new phone or other products at a Proximus shop, or donate it to a good cause.

To help the campaign (that started in 2020, and was carried on in 2021) I was asked to design a one page website.
Goal? Explain what Urban Mining is, keep track of the amount of gathered phones and raw materials ànd explain how people can get involved as an individual, company or school, but without being too lecturing. The Proximus brand wants to inspire people to do better with their tagline Think Possible, not
 lecture.
To grab the attention of the visitor the animation of a phone buzzing was added to the header. People can answer the call of the planet and hear why it's important to recycle old phones. Animations are sprinkled throughout the rest of the page under the form of counters and animated graphs
Have a phone laying around?
Don't Miss the Call, make sure you recycle it ;)
