Changes to layout

After getting some feedback from Geraint, I went back to my InDesign file to make a few changes. Firstly, I changed the second hero image of my witch character, as Geraint didn’t like the one I chose as it was quite theatrical and ‘fake’. So instead I chose an image that’s a close up of the face, and there’s a slight smirk on the lips alluding to a secret or mystery. It also contrasts nicely against the first image which is quite saintly.
Then I went to the grids and started rearranging a few of the images, taking some out and adding different ones in.
For the ‘greed’ grid I put the image of myself straight on in the centre, and tried to intertwine the other close ups so similar ones aren’t next to each other.
For ‘envy’ I again put the straight on image in the centre as it’s the most powerful and draws the eye. Then I scattered the images that were from the same distance, so I separated ones where I’m close up, or leaning forward in the chair.
For the ‘elf’ character, I removed one of the manic close ups and replaced it with a chest up shot that shows more confusion, to add some more variety in expression and distance.
Lastly, for the ‘witch’ grid I simply swapped two images in the middle row so that they’re facing in instead of outwards.

The last thing I needed to change was the texture on the back cover, as the one I used doesn’t translate well enough, so I needed something more pronounced. I went back onto the stock image websites I was looking on before and found an image of some white bed sheets, and I thought this tied in really well with my book as all my self portraits have a white bed sheet as the backdrop.
