BAFTA award winning production studio Arthur Cox approached us to collaborate with them on digital archive project  ‘A Time Traveller’s Guide to Bristol’.   The project consisted of filmmaking, a website and an iphone app, all designed to allow the public to delve into Bristol’s past and take a glimpse into it’s future.BAFTA award winning production studio Arthur Cox approached us to collaborate with them on digital archive project  ‘A Time Traveller’s Guide to Bristol’.   The project consisted of filmmaking, a website and an iphone app, all designed to allow the public to delve into Bristol’s past and take a glimpse into it’s future.


We participated in the facilitation of a series of workshops with young people to generate visions for what 6 hotspots in Bristol would look like in the future.  We then had to take these ideas and create future visualisations of each.We participated in the facilitation of a series of workshops with young people to generate visions for what 6 hotspots in Bristol would look like in the future.  We then had to take these ideas and create future visualisations of each.


Response
To take the ideas from sketch pad to realistic imagery was a real challenge.  After developing our own concept art for the views, we photographed each location.  Then using a mixture of digital modelling and painting techniques we constructed the final images.To take the ideas from sketch pad to realistic imagery was a real challenge.  After developing our own concept art for the views, we photographed each location.  Then using a mixture of digital modelling and painting techniques we constructed the final images.


Results
The project was launched on the S.S. Great Britain as part of the ‘Festival of Ideas’.  The films has been seen by thousands at viewings at the Bristol Art Gallery, Arnolfini and on the BBC screen in Millennium Square.The project was launched on the S.S.
