Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is a Canadian non-profit organization devoted to protecting
Canada’s wilderness heritage. The project’s primary objective was to raise awareness about the endangered
glass sponge reefs. The campaign sought public support for establishing an official conservation area.

On October 15th and 16th of 2013, CPAWS BC hosted a once-in-a-lifetime underwater expedition to explore the glass sponge reefs off the coast of Vancouver on board the Aquarius research submarine.
