This recreation was my first proper test with Blender, I replicated as close as possible the look of the 1977 movie, with lighting and color grading.
The 3D models of the ships were animated by moving the camera, replicating the process used by ILM back in the day. Intead of having the ship moving, the camera moves, and they were rendered in separate passes and composed in post. The logo and matte painting of Tatooine were taken from a 35mm copy of the film, other elements such as the text and background stars were made on After Effects.
I also added film grain but unfortunetly due to compression, it's hard to notice it.
The models were not created by me.
