Exousía
Exousía is a 3D printed brace for wrist trauma treatment
Brief

Nowadays wrist traumas are usually treated with traditional braces, that result in typical discomforts for the user:
• excessive sweating
• itch
• inability to wash the injured part
Concept development

• Shape definition: organic outline allows a correct fit to user's arm, while using a pattern allows to save material where it's not needed
• Pattern optimization: it is denser where more resistance is needed
Firstly I 3D printed some TPE prototypes: the flexibility of the material made it possible to easily define and check brace's shape and dimension
The final model is realized in LLDPE, a plastic material that at a certain thickness starts
to be very resistant, but at the same time is flexible enough to easily wear the brace.
It can be quickly 3D printed using PAM (Pellet Additive Manufacturing) technology.
Exousía can be easily worn thanks to three integrated laces, that guarantee that it remains closed and blocked
