For the Love of Curls

When I was a little girl I didn’t like my curly hair. Every morning was a battle. I would try to hide my curls in a bun or spend hours straightening them. For a long time this kept me from truly accepting myself. Fortunately, I have an amazing mom who also has curly hair. My mom made it her mission to help me love my curls. She taught me that my curls are unique and how take care of them. My curls are now a big part of who I am! So, when I was given the opportunity to choose the subject matter for my alternative type book I knew I wanted to design a book to help other people learn how to take care of their curly hair. The only stipulation for this assignment was that we had to use alternative type for the alphabet or numbers one through twenty. I photographed, designed, and illustrated
this book.
