NY 1920's (ny1920.com) is a funded project by NYIT which have been recognized by researchers and artists from ModNets (Modernist Network), DH awards (Digital Humanities) 2021, and more. It collects archival materials that touch issues on art, literature, socio-political issues, marginalized sectors, interesting or controversial news and trivia, and just everyday living in New York from a hundred years ago.

As the pioneer graphic designer, I did the branding manual, website design, and promotional materials. I later revised the logo to make it apt for the new name, NY 1920's, a result of an expansion with more funding from the university.
This logo gives a face & human touch to the history of New York in the year 1920. Moving away from skyscrapers or machinery, this logo focuses on a face with two eyes (number 9 and 0) and a nose (number 2), while seeming to be in an act of inquiry. This also makes us wonder about the individuals who make up New York but are rarely heard—  immigrants, laborers, women, children, and more. When we think of 1920, we think of Great Gatsby, and all the glitz and glamour, thus the gold Art Deco-inspired typeface, but there is more than just that. That time in history from a hundred years ago is golden— for it is rich in narratives, anecdotes, and surprising facts worth hearing.
