QUARANTINE - DESIGNING A GAME
For an assignment I had to come up with an own game and design it with all the formal and dramatic elements a game needs. When the theory behind the game was done I designed the look and feel of the game and styled it as a uniform brand.
The story
A virus has broken out. It spreads very quickly. Many people become sick. ICs are becoming full, airports are closing and buses are barely running. The government is instituting a lockdown. People are asked to stay at home and go outside as little as possible.

Streets remain empty, shops barely open. Daily life has come to a standstill. There is a lot of uncertainty about the seriousness of the virus and social media is full of conflicting messages. You are on your own. How do you ensure that the virus does not get to you and that you get through this lockdown as best as possible?
THE CHARACTERS
Quarantine is a multiplayer strategy card game, where you can pick a character with its own needs and opportunities. With the character comes a special deck fitted with the characters traits. For the player it's possible to come up with an own survival technique.
And The winner is...
The objective is obtaining a vaccine, so you can survive as a group. The winner will be the one with the most points. It's also possible to go your own way and to trust your own survival skills. Likely the game will end with just one survivor before a vaccine is created. This way each round of play will be unique with the possibility of different outcomes.
Mobile and physical cardgame
It was a challenge to translate the different elements from mobile to a board game. I decided to make a board to show how the creation of the vaccine is going on as well as to make a separate board to keep track of how full the IC's are.
ExpAnsion Packs
The game is possible to play as a physical game. You can get extra expansion cardpacks at the game shop. If you scan the cards with the mobile app then the cards are also added to your personal deck in the mobile game.
