Project 02: Conceptual Book Cover
by Stephania Muro
"A concept is an abstract idea or general notion that occur in the mind, in speech, or in thought. Concepts are understood to be the fundamental building blocks of thoughts and beliefs."

The purpose of this project is to create three conceptual book covers for the same book using distinct methodsTypography, Physical Elements, and Artist's Choice Book Covers. The books were picked out of a list containing “the most influential books of all time”. I chose War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. The intention is to look deeper to find what the author tried to convey to the world and illustrate the theme or core message of the story as a concept on the cover of the book. Enjoy!
Book Covers
Typography Book Cover
The Typography Book Cover represents the desire people have to find
peace in their lives. Even when physical or emotional wars must be faced,
everyone is born with the determination to fight to find harmony with life.
The characters of the story experience difficulties and tragedies, but once
they realize how their life change when they realize their purpose in life,
they are sure they want nothing else than to fulfill it. They do all they can
to run from war to experience the joy the opposite can offer them.
Physical Elements Book Cover
The Physical Material Book Cover expresses the powerful have the ability
to make a difference in a world full of anguish and grief; their influence
can end these. They can create a war, or they can motivate peace.
Artist’s Choice Book Cover
The Artist’s Choice Book Cover illustrates we choose how we live. Even
hard times surround us; war, disease, or hatred cannot take away who
we are and what we believe in. Challenges are like a blindfold that
sometimes limits our understanding, but we have the capacity to take it
off and see the beauty life offers us. Love has the power to awaken!
“"The whole world is divided for me into two parts: one is she, and there is all happiness, hope, light; the other is where she is not, and there is dejection and darkness...”
-Leo Tolstoy
