1. Geometric elevation
2. Schematic architectural elevation

The optional class of Relevamiento y Representación offers a technical hand drawing program, based on the documentation of buildings from the 20th century in Buenos Aires. This includes the representation in plans and views, and a final proposal drawing.

1. Ground plan
2 . Geometric plan implantation

The case study was the Casa Colectiva Valentín Alsina, built in 1919 by the architect Raúl Pasman. The project was one of the first houses to be built by the Comisión Nacional de Casas Baratas (National Commission for Cheap Houses), in search of a state solution to the problem of popular housing. The building was intended for rent and sought to respond to the needs of the impoverished sectors of the city centre, allowing the eradication of many precarious tenements. It is located on Caseros Avenue in front of Patricios Park. The building consists of a ground floor and 3 floors, with two internal rectangular patios, which has 70 housing units of 2, 3 and 4 rooms, in a total of 6,200 m2 of covered area.

1. Plan
2. Elevation detail

The final proposed drawing is a view of the house that emphasizes the idea of symmetry and detail of the facade. What the final drawing proposes is an approximation to the level of detail of the facade that can represent the moldings, decoration and depths through a study of the building’s shadows, always referring to the interest of the marked symmetry of the facade. The drawing shows an interest in representing the original graphic documentation of the project instead of the facade finally built. Thus, the proposed drawing represents the original idea that Raúl Pasman projected in 1919, which, due to costs, was not carried out. The technique is pen on 50x70 and 70x100 cm paper.
