KAPOSVÁR INTERMODAL JUNCTION
It has been a unique opportunity to be able to follow through this 8 year period from urban concept to completion.
I took the role of lead architect in the urban concept, masterplanning, urban site planning, as well as the building design and bridge design. I shared lead architect role with my collegue Bence Kertész for detailed design phases.
This new multimodal traffic hub is dedicated to make public transportation facilities accessible in the city centre of Kaposvár. Train, local and long distance buslines are connected within 3 minutes of reach.
Alongside its main function, the transportation facilty resolves long sought after urban improvements to the city centre. A new 200m long pedestrian and cyclist bridge connects the two main parts of the city, with functional landscaping on both ends.
After an eight year long design - consultation- building process, the project has been completed in 2020.
