Supremo Tea - Rethink & Redesign: Packaging

The purpose of the project was the redesign of the packaging of the chilean tea brand Supremo with the objetive to make it more sustainable and attractive to young consumers, without sacrificing the aspects that made it popular in the first place.
Taking into consideration the business model of the Supremo tea brand (mass distribution, low prices, simplicity), it was decided on a design strategy that would reduce the environmental impact of this single-use product without sacrificing its practicality.
This eco-design strategy will focus in the selection of low impact materials, reduction in the use of materials and optimization of the product end of life.
Some of the features of this redesign are the use of uncoated Natural Kraft cardboard to reduce ink usage, sewn tea bags made with abaca fiber blend, two-ink printing with vegetable inks from BIO Inks Kingwoods, the reduction of the size to allow for more printing while maintaining the same internal content, and the redesign of the labels in a tessellated die that avoids wasting paper.
