A Friend in Every Place
This interior illustration was created with the concept that someone can grow up in any part of the world, and be able to find things around them which they can connect with.
I wanted to also bring this concept into play within the composition of the image itself. The idea was to have various characters in each part of the image with their own story, ultimately interacting with the young boy in their own way.
One of my favorite things about this project was the continuous conversation between mark making, and texture. On the positive side of this battle, I come up with some really awesome textures...
But, the downside of it is that many times I go through tons of different styles before finally deciding on the one that feels correct. This can even happen when I'm beginning to craft an illustration (Notice the difference in coral types in the process video below..)
