Love Shouldn't Hurt - An Anti- Domestic Violence Campaign
The goal of my photograph is to show the helpless feeling many victims feel in domestic
violence situations. The story being told is of a woman trapped in a situation where her
abuser’s love is literally killing her, where she stays and covers her wounds for the sake of
appearances and her family. The Actors used for this project were laying in a room lit by
natural light through various windows through the room, and I had the female subject lay 6 fT from one window with her head turned toward the sunlight, while the male subject buried his face him her chest, and wrapped his arm around her. All bruising and tears were don’t in post editing. The white lace lingerie the subject wore was a node to the white that a bride wears on her wedding/wedding night and the purity and love its supposed to represent.
The photoshoot took place in the home of my models, and their children played right outside the window that we used for natural light. During the shoot, one of their children wondered into the room, and we took a moment to explain what we were doing. After we finished the photoshoot I asked how my models felt participating in a Mock Domestic violence seen. My male model expressed how deeply uncomfortable he was, as he had grown up in a home with violence present.
Before Post-production.

Mock up's for this campaign work better as close shots, as to not lose the details of the models face. This campaign works because of the strong emotional response of the photography.
