Mum + Poppy's Branding Project

Mum + Poppy's is a conceptual flower shop brand based in Greenville, South Carolina. This flower shop has the mission of partnering with nursing homes around the area. Some of the proceeds of the customers that come to the flower shop go into the company's action of creating flower bouquets and sending them to people in the nursing homes that don't have family or friends around to show them love. The name "Mum + Poppy's" comes from first the obvious, there are flowers called Mum and Poppies, but this name also gives a nod to the endearing names that we can give to our grandparents - hence giving a nod to the nursing home mission. I created this flower shop for a branding project during my time as a student. The goal of the project was to cohesively design different collateral for a brand. I was to create different products within the brand and have a consistent design throughout the brand products. I was to start this company from the ground up, starting with brain storming who the target audience is, what type of aesthetic the company has, what the mission of the company is, etc. Some challenges that I ran into during this project is consistently staying within the brand without just doing the same designs over and over again. I wanted to continue to make interesting designs, but for those designs to consistently stay within the brand. That was definitely a challenge, but something that I feel like I worked through.
The Mum + Poppy's brand consistently uses these three colors throughout the brand. Because Mum + Poppy's is very family and endearing oriented, I wanted to give each of the colors a name. Each of these names are based off of different flowers or greenery that you can find in the flower shop!
One of the requirements of the project was to create a vehicle that the company would use either when traveling, or when at a festival. I created a bus that is branded that can be used as a store on wheels. The vision is for customers to be able to walk onto the bus and be able to shop around with the flowers inside the bus.
One of the requirements for the project was to create a magazine ad for the company. I wanted to highlight some sort of "testimony" from an adult from a nursing home in town that was impacted by Mum + Poppy's mission.
Lastly, one of the requirements for the project was to create a social media campaign for the company. With this campaign I wanted to highlight the mission of Mum + Poppy's. Each post highlights different things that Mum + Poppy's "believes in". This continues on the conversation that Mum + Poppy's has a mission for people and is much deeper than just a flower shop.

Below you will find the beginning process of coming up with the different design ideas for this project. I begin on paper trying to bring my designs to life.
Thank you so much for taking time to look through my project!
