Carter Boehm's profile

The Western Backlot of Yellowstone Film Ranch

As the founder and president of Ponderosa Films, Carter Boehm has executive produced two films: 2017’s Broken Ghost and 2019’s Robert the Bruce. Carter Boehm also developed the full-service production facility Yellowstone Film Ranch.

Located just north of Yellowstone National Park in the rural community of Livingston, Montana, Yellowstone Film Ranch welcomes filmmakers with a professional studio and assistance with issues ranging from general production to tax credit acquisition. It works in close partnership with the Montana Film Office.

Yellowstone Film Ranch features an extensive backlot with comprehensive Western sets. In fact, this backlot offers the cinematic exteriors of an entire small town that reflects the authentic aesthetics of an American West gold rush outpost from the late 1800s.

In addition to its 19 structural facades, the backlot contains five fully functional buildings that not only look great from the outside, but also house interior sets that provide ideal settings for scenes in Western films. All of these sets, including a farmhouse and a Native American camp, stand against a natural background of tree-lined hills and glacier-capped mountains.
