This year I desided to take part in this incredible challenge. Because I really LOVE folk tales. You know speaking animals, dead women, cannibalism, magic creatures, brave heroes

And I decided to take slavic legends and tales, because they are always fascinate and calling me.

That will be dark a bit :)
Prompt 1: Birth

I inspired by Russian folk tale "the armless"
Very touching and a bit of sad story. When I reread this tale now, I think it's about postpartum depression
Prompt 2: Ritual

Ritual is a huge part of folk tale. Sometimes we even don't understand that the act is the ritual. Initiation ritual. Always there's a challenge which a main character must to go through. And it offten implieinjury and damage.

In russian folk tale "Tale about rejuvenating(??? I'm sorry, I don't know how to translate it lol) apples and life-giving (??? Okay, I'm not sure about translation again :D) water" Ivan-tsarevich had to feed the bird Nagai (slavic ver. of griffin) meat. And when he run out of meat, he cut 3 pieces out of his body. 2 from legs, and one from chest :^)
Prompt 3: Courtship

I won't tell you something new If i say in russian tales there also are monsters, which stole princesses :^)

This phenomenon is explained by the fact that people belived supernatural creatures had a strong affection to оpposites (that also explains the marmaids' behavior
Prompt 4: Solstice

There is an old tradition - to jump through the fire on the mid summer's night. And there is a tale about girl of snow (Snegurochka). She jumped through and melted
Prompt 5: Death

This is my favorite tale from my childhood
"Ivan-Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf"
In the end, Ivan's brothers ripped him to pieces and took his gf, horse and magic bird.
(The cool wolf resurrected Tsarevich and they saved the girl, so the end is good👌)

as i told in 2nd promt, Initiation ritual implieinjury and damage, and in the end the death of course. The boy must die to be reborn to a man
Prompt 6: Harvest

Strange tale about Kroshechka-Havroshechka.
Her mom was turned to cow by evil witch. The witch make Havroshechka do dirty work. And at once she find out the cow always help Havroshechka, so the witch killed and ate it.
Havroshechka buried her mom, and a wonderful apple tree grew up at that place
(And only Havroshechka could pick apples from the tree)

Such a harvest 🙃
Prompt 7: Dance

I finally did it
Thanks for you attention, I'm very appreciate!!
That was amazing, my favorite theme, my favorite activity, thanks for people who started this challenge
