This set of poster is made around the idea of "conventional/unconventional". It's aimed to explore the different methods in poster making throughout the years of graphic design.

The hero image in my designs is the Sydney Opera House. I chose it to be the hero image because of it's easy to recognize shape despite my theme being about the movie. 

In the conventional poster design, the hero image was the primary visual focus as the Opera house is big and entered. Then the texts and other components are all symmetrical on the vertical center lines. The shape of the famous opera house is combined with movie strips. It first delivers the theme movie. Then the four movie strips are curved and only showed half of the width as if it’s rolling, which provides the idea of multiple films, thus indicates movie marathon. The colour scheme is rather simple. I used blue as the background because it’s calm, elegant and it’s also the colour of the sea which surrounds the Sydney opera house. A made-up anecdotal reference is placed on the t a more upright way as well. 

I started the second poster with the idea of the image as type. The title and other texts are not real fonts but texts created with shapes. The layout is messy at first look, but it is unconventional and bold. I used lots of shapes to create this poster and the hero image; the opera house is made with shapes as well. The photos that modified in colours are related to the colour of the 3D movie glasses. I also added subtle textures to the objects, subtle enough to not change the look but when looking closely, it adds an extra feeling to it. Overall I think it is an excellent unconventional poster and it fulfilled the aim.
