This is a plaster tile designed by impressing wild grasses into a clay mold.
I used wild grasses that grow outside my house to make my impressions. I was hoping that more of the texture of the grass would come through, but it's pretty unnoticeable sadly.
I chose to follow a baroque diagonal as a line of symmetry. I then used arabesque-like curves to create my pattern.
Air bubbles were not really a problem for me, I was able to get them all to the surface and dissipate while the mold was drying.
I painted the tile with gold and emerald green paint, which is not reflected very well in the photo. I thought these colors added to a look of elegance.
A pattern of repetition can be viewed on the symmetry across the diagonal. I tried to create an aesthetically appealing pattern of curves that filled the space elegantly, starting and ending small, increasing size towards the middle.
