02. Editorial design: JOE
Project description:
The aim of this project was to interview someone that we find interesting and they have to be over the age of 30. After having done a few interviews and getting to know my subject matter Dr Joe Terblanche, I found multiple interesting stories and focused more in depth on how to write the narrative. Alongside the narrative is the imagery. We had to find what creative direction best suited the narrative and we had to really explore different methods and mediums.

Rationale:
I re-did this project and decided to go into a very different creative direction. I combined black and white found images that relates to the narrative with more vibrant pops of colour and shapes. This also ties in with Joe on another level because Joe takes black and white film photos. Although I tried muted tones in the first project to relate to the fact that Joe is colourblind, I decided to go in the opposite direction when I re did this project. I really love how this project came out and I had a lot of fun working with the different elements and pop of colours. This project is a lot more expressive in nature. I did however keep the original cover and dust cover because of the quirky nature that ties in with the expressiveness of the spreads.
