[Assignment] Starwars Hologram
Outcome
In this individual assignment, we are asked to create one of the four visual special effects. I decided to create a StarWars Hologram. The person needs to get in contact with a hologram of another person. The software that I will be using the most will be Adobe After Effect.
Effect Brief
For most of the color corrections, I use Auto Color, Solid Composite and Hue/Saturation. I play around with the adjustments of each video clips to achieve a harmonious color as a whole video.
As for holograms video clips I use Keylight, Tints, Wave Warp and Noise in a pre-compose video. I also use Radial Blur, Brightness & Contrast, Curves and Color Neutralizer.
This is how I create a tracker. At first, I put on motion tracker to the background or the main clip. Then I put one tracker only. I play the analyze button to start tracking, then I put it on null layer and apply it. After that I make the hologram with Null as a parent.
I use masking a lot in this project too. I use it to mask the green screen clip to get the portion of the body that I want to show. I use masking for a quick animation of appearing and disappearing of the hologram too.
Storyboard
Every video needs to have a storyline. The storyboard act as a guide to the production. I put the idea in a sketchbook.

Conclusion
I learnt how to create a hologramlike video for the first time and although the process is easy, I didn’t take it lightly because I want to achieve at least a decent looking video. I am not satisfied with the screen because it didn’t sit just right. I was about to give a glow but I took too much time in trying to perfect my video. I learnt tracking just a little bit late. The tracker should be played until the end of the video clip that I want. I just realized that because I saw the trackers keyframe didn’t lengthen in my timeline.
