Design concept for modern Japanese cuisine, restaurant 'Takenoko' in Zagreb, Croatia. Wooden gift box is created to be filled with different accessories for sushi making or serving food that is specific for this fine dinning restaurant. Design of the box is very unique because of its material, parts (only 3 parts) and curves.
Curves are made by carefully perforating plywood achieving change in physical laws of the material (many trial and errors along the way). I successfully got curved box with very interesting and traditional pattern on the angles.
Technology used for cutting is laser due to very thick plywood material which also makes a very economical solution for my client. Laser engraved logo of the restaurant along with the wood texture gives a traditional and natural charm of Japanese culture.
