My submission for the Godzilla: King of the Monsters fan art contest. For my submission I wanted to design a poster that honored the legacy of Godzilla, by taking a look at the Heisei Era of Godzilla films. I took cues from every poster of that era, and other work by the late Noriyoshi Ohrai, trying to create something that both referenced them, while also honoring and building off of them. I additionally wanted to focus on the upcoming film, and its place in the Godzilla universe by tying in elements such as Monarch's "Argo Jet", and the set pieces of Fenway Park and the Boston skyline. The aim of this was to inform the viewer of basic elements of the upcoming film, while also once again referencing Noriyoshi Ohrai's poster design, as they too often featured settings from their respective movies. In terms of the composition itself I tries to create an intense sense of scale and scope while also using color cues to add an element of awe and wonder to accentuate the godlike nature of the Titans.
