Design Achievement
Nestled on the north side of the picturesque Cal Poly campus, Baggett Stadium offers a stunning backdrop of coastal hills and mountains, setting the stage for college baseball. Since its inauguration in 2001, the venue has witnessed the triumphs of numerous impressive Mustang teams. However, the original clubhouse facility, dating back to the stadium's construction, failed to provide the desired amenities expected by today's student-athletes and coaches. In response, DLR Group designed a new clubhouse facility that enhances the overall experience, aligning Cal Poly's recruitment and development efforts with the program's esteemed status. Alongside upgraded player and coach amenities, the facility boasts a versatile multipurpose room, complete with an outdoor balcony offering a commanding view of the playing field and the scenic beauty beyond. This space accommodates up to 85 VIP guests, providing an enhanced viewing experience for games.
Scope Summary
DLR Group meticulously incorporated historically inspired displays into the project to accentuate the baseball program's rich heritage, evoking a sense of nostalgia and personal pride for players, coaches, and visitors. A dynamic scoreboard serves as a visual reference for pivotal moments in team history, boasting a design that allows for adaptable content. The team lounge is adorned with framed vintage black and white player photos, adding to the ambiance. Various locations feature backlit illuminated player graphics, illuminated exterior team branded signage, and large-scale applied vinyl wall graphics. Inside the locker room, All-Americans are duly recognized, while donor acknowledgments are prominently displayed throughout the facility. DLR Group was responsible for providing wayfinding, signage, and experiential graphics services for this project.
