Design Achievement
DLR Group was commissioned to undertake a naming exercise and create a comprehensive wayfinding and signage package for a project located just outside of Papillion, Nebraska. Given that this development serves as visitors' first experience with the city, meticulous planning and consideration have been dedicated to the overall project, which encompasses landscape design, architecture, and signage. The distinctive signage design, reflecting the city logo, serves as a prominent identifier for this mixed-use development situated along the busiest highway in the area. To achieve the objectives of attracting new visitors and providing clear direction for on-site users, the wayfinding and signage system encompasses a diverse range of sign types. From the towering 60-foot-tall pylon sign facing the interstate to the entryway monument signage, and extending to the vehicular and pedestrian level solutions, the signage package comprises a comprehensive toolkit. Industrial materials have been thoughtfully incorporated into the design, ensuring the signage aligns with the overall architectural style and blends seamlessly with the landscape solutions.
Scope Summary
The Steel Ridge development, strategically located along a heavily trafficked interstate, assumes the role of the City of Papillion's new gateway, necessitating the implementation of a distinctive and noteworthy signage system. Drawing inspiration from the butterfly shape featured in the City's logo and the art of origami, the signage family establishes a powerful identity for both the Steel Ridge development and the City as a whole. The design solution carefully considers present and future signage requirements, taking into account optimal placement and adaptability to accommodate the inevitable evolution of the development over time. DLR Group played a key role in providing experiential graphic design and naming services for the project.
