My project was done on the iconic Jackson Pollock. My initial inspirations were to capture his abstract style and from the very beginning I intended on some how capturing his drip paint style. Before working on the poster I looked at some of his most famous works to get a feel for how for it. I even watch videos of him at work to see how he himself would do it.

His drip paintings are dynamic and gestural. I used this one a my primary inspiration and used it as the base for some of my initial digital tests, playing with my own color scheme to figure out how to make something that was my own too. While I liked how those test turned out, they didn't have the same energy and the digital drip paint didn't feel real, so I set on about doing it with real paint and made a stencil and old paint cans we had laying around the house and went to work.

Final product
After everything was done I removed the stencil and got this. I simply added in the digital type and affects after. I Dripped the paint and made my own gestures as I went a long, I felt a very strong connection to him as I went and even left my own emotional and frustration on the canvas, something Pollock was known for. The design was made to be very modern, in tribute to Pollocks own legacy as being a modern artist. The drip painting was of course done in his style as well and the type used was futura, a classic modern type.
