Revisiting the Iconic Sydney Opera House Australia

Revisiting the Icon; the Sydney Opera House, Sydney New South Wales Australia.

The Sydney Opera House is one of the world’s Iconic structures. It is a modern masterpiece. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is perhaps, the most famous Opera House in the world and perhaps one of the most photographed structures.

The Sydney Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point, a point where First Nations people gathered to participate in cultural activities at Sydney Harbor in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. ‘Since time immemorial Tubowgule, the land on which the Opera House stands, has been a place of gathering and belonging. The Gadigal and Sydney basin clans would meet on the tidal island, dance, sing, feast, exchange knowledge and share stories.’

The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts center with several halls, the largest of which is the Concert Hall which can seat 2,679 people.

The design award was made to the Danish architect Jorn Utzon in 1957. It took 14 years to build from ground breaking to its commissioning in 1973. There was a lot of drama during the construction of this project that the realization of the completion of the building was in doubt on several occasions.

Details of the events during the construction and after the commissioning of the building as well as other meaningful information about the Sydney Opera House can be found at https://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/

I spent two days exploring the Sydney Opera House and the equally magnificent Iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Circular Quay and the Royal Botanical Garden. I took a tour of the interior of the Opera House. Where photography was permitted, we were duly informed. I have made a small selection out of perhaps hundreds of images I took, along with two interior images supplied to me by the tour organizers at MyMagicPhotos.com.

Detailed information about and high resolution copies of individual photos could be found at

Enjoy.
