I made this piece for a Moebius (Jean Giraud) tribute show.

Moebius was one of the most influential comic artists and illustrators.
He's known for his wide open spaces, surrealistic landscapes and bizarre creatures
(as well as influencing countless sci-fi and fantasy movies and media).
I wanted to create a piece featuring my own original characters while reflecting some of Moebius' most prominent tropes.
Everything starts with a rough (quite literally!) sketch. I noticed Moebius' frequent use of
2-point perspective in his landscape art and so I wanted to create something similar.
Drawing that plane was very tricky!
While I didn't completely mimic Moebius' ligne claire inking style, I kept the black shadows to a minimum to let the color do the rest of the work. But I must admit, it was hard for me to hold back and not over-shade everything!
And voilà! The finished piece!
I hope you've enjoyed looking at this piece as much as I've enjoyed working on it!
