On a walk in Jersey City NJ in 1999, I made this image of my wife pushing our newborn. The statue in the foreground stands in stark contrast to the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. It is a visually violent memorial to the Massacre at Katyn, Poland in 1940, when Soviet forces murdered 22,000 Polish military officers, government officials, and leaders.
I've adapted this photo from it's original color image.
