ART 414: History of Baroque and Rococo Art
HONORS OPTION, Spring semester 2020
As a student in the Honors Program at Colorado State University, I get the opportunity to work more closely with a professors and complete an "Honors Option" in a chosen class. An Honors Option consists of completing an extra assignment or project throughout the semester. In ART414, I decided to work with my professor to explore the different ways in which Baroque artists used style to express their intentions of a painting. Certain artists have become known for the particular styles, such as Caravaggio and his use of Tenebrism, and I wanted to try to highlight this by contrasting it to other works that vastly differ in style and/or context. As a result, I created a series of digital drawings that are intended to visually show how a change of style or context of a painting can drastically change or oppose the meaning of the image.

Below is the presentation I presented to my class, along with each digital drawing I created.
