Thin, inconspicuous light
The idea of this design arose through the elimination of typical lamp dome reflectors and light diffuse materials from traditional floor lamps designs. I thought I could explore placing the light along the shaft, similar to a stick light, or a fluorescent tube light. I also wanted to steer away from smooth shapes and thicker bodies, more of what I'm comfortable with to see what designs I could discover.
Direct & indirect lighting
Light emanates from a long strip of LED's, positioned to provide a large lighting spread profile. It can be rotated 360 degrees for direct and indirect lighting.
Smooth, yet rugged texture
The thin tubular shape is made of aluminum, a strong yet lightweight metal, finished with a coat of black paint, and sanded lightly to obtain a worn look. The design would fit perfectly with the aesthetic of a modern homes, following the latest trends with rustic industrialist interior design styles.
