Bamboo - Earth workshop, Auroville
The workshop was designed to introduce the participants to Earth building techniques and Bamboo construction techniques(Intermediate) The designed entrance for the Auroville Bamboo center has 2 rammed earth walls on each side of the main entrance which fold down to become seating/resting space, traditionally referred to as Thennai. The Entrance gateway is kept simple with a roof made out of half split bamboos resting on 4 Bamboo posts.

These workshops provide basic training for one to be able to implement the techniques in their work and design. The hands-on use of tools and interaction with the materials with the help of the technicians helps the participant to experience the real advantages and challenges, which is an important aspect if one wants to include these materials in one's design language and style.
